Juicer has arrived. Messes have occurred.
Sept 6th. I got my juicer delivered yesterday. It's huge and loud and makes a fucking mess. It's fantastic! I worked shoulders at the gym today and then kicked off my little reboot with a Swiss Chard, Rhubarb, Carrot, Strawberry, Red Grape and Ginger juice. It's good. It's really good. I know the recommendation is 80/20 veggies to fruits but I wanted to make sure that the first couple I tried didn't taste like ass and completely hijack my motivation. Nobody wants to drink ass juice. Nobody.
Down about 7 lbs with cleaner eating and exercising more regularly. I'm interested to see how the juicing diet will compare. I'm sure it's going to be dramatic. My plan is to gradually move to more juicing during the day and eat a real meal at night. This seems to work best for me since juicing doesn't give much fiber and the shakes and a real meal will help to hold off the hangry attacks. Hungry doesn't motivate, it only irritates. The key is to prevent it as much as possible.
My softball team won our league championship last night and we went out to dinner to celebrate. I actually allowed myself two beers. That and a veggie wrap so I didn't go completely off the reservation. I was sort of proud of myself for that one.
There's been a lot in the news lately about the balance of food and exercise and which one is more important when trying to lose weight. The science has gone back and forth quite a bit in my lifetime but it's gotten to where the new school of thought is about 80/20 food to exercise. I agree. I know that when I do a cleanse or reboot or whatever you want to call it, the weight loss is dramatic. The exercise is huge, but in different ways. For me, the more solid and mass I have, the more weight I drop when eating right. Everyone does since muscle burns more calories at rest and while in use. And, of course, you are burning calories when exercising. I'm sure I'll come back to this point quite a bit while on this fast/diet or whatever the hell it turns into. Hopefully it turns into a permanent change.
Back to work.
